The New Hoops Analyst

Hey all.  As you can see, we’ve gone ahead and moved Hoops Analyst into the 21st century.  Though still a work in progress, we think you’ll enjoy the new site much more than the old.  We’ve added the ability to leave comments, which should add a whole new dimension to our posts and foster a little more discussion with our readers.  Currently, we only have a few of the most recent posts up here, but we will be providing a way to archive the articles from the old site very soon.  Please leave some comments and let us know what you think about the new digs.

Great to see you added the comments section. I absolutely love this site and would assume anyone who comes here is a basketball junkie like me. And to think, if it wasn’t for Kelly Dwyer, I wouldn’t even know about it.

Glad you like the new comments. We’d really like the content in the comments to be almost as valuable as the content in the posts. Do us a favor and let all you friends know about the new site. The more people contributing, the better the site is for everyone.

Will you put up a full article RSS feed? I see the RSS feeds for the categories, but is there one for everything?

Thanks, glad to see the new site.

Glad to see you back up and running. I greatly enjoy reading your in-depth analysis of trades, signings and the like. Keep up the good work.

Woo hoo. I got scared, a couple of days ago, when I went to and got a generic domain hosting front page. I’m glad to know that it’s still you, and that you will be putting the archives back up.

I regularly go back through the archives looking for information about a player — particularly the pre-draft analysis, which is interesting to come back to after a year or two.

Trev, we’ll definitely have a full article RSS feed set up soon. We wanted to try to get all the old articles published in the new format, but for those who’ve been long time fans, you know there are a ton of articles to bring over. We’ll keep adding the oldies as we go forward and eventually will have links to most popular, etc.

The only thing I ask you guys is to tell everyone you know to visit the new site. More visitors and commenters will allow us to add new features that we’ve been thinking about here at Hoops Analyst HQ.

Dig the new site… and like the comment up top, one Mr Kelly Dwyer pointed me in the direction of Hoops Analyst too.

Congrats on the new look! I’m looking forward to adding my own in-depth analysis in the comments section in the form of spam such as “LMAO” and “FIRST!” (provided that I get there first).

I usually check about 2 or 3 times a week. I take particular interest in the prospect analysis. Good to see hoopsanalyst moving up in the world! 😛

I must admit, i DID like the old school site. I think simply because i loved how it was so out-dated. It made it clear that hoopsanalyst’s focus is definitely nba basketball and not html, lol.

BUT, it IS an improvement, and i’m excited about the comments section! good idea, guys!

great new site guys; love reading your stuff, and now with the comments i can give my 2c on what you write 😉

To be honest, I preferred the old site. It had a fresh look, while now the site just falls into all the generic “web 2.0”-esque blogs out there. I guess it depends on how you use the new technology – e.g. what you do with the archives?

    — extensive tagging to search via those tags could be cool. perhaps every player has a tag, so we can look through all the history of when you’ve commented on the player?
    — comments, i’d recommend switching to disqus or something that allows more threaded comments, because with the intelligence of the readership on this site that would make it more interesting

so, i guess from a design and appearance perspective i felt the old ways were better. from a functional perspective we shall see. also, though i understand the reason for the ads, i find them ugly here, esp the way you’ve chosen to use them. check out daring fireball for an example of stylish ads but, if they keep harlan writing, then so i’m all for it.

anyway, overall happy to have you back.

Thrilled to see the new site.

Content was always good, but the old site was a bit dated.
