Andrew Wiggins, All-Star?

January 31, 2022 by Harlan Schreiber

So, Andrew Wiggins was voted an All-Star by the fans.  This vote raised some eyebrows because Wiggins’ All-Star status is pretty debatable.  Let’s do a moderate dive into how crazy this choice is.  Here are two facts that we should consider before really expressing an opinion: (a) the All-Star game is fan driven and if the fans want Wiggins, then so be it and (b) most fans really don’t care too much about an exhibition game played at moderate intensity anyway.  So, you won’t … [Read more...] about Andrew Wiggins, All-Star?

The NBA’s Vaccine Quandaries

September 26, 2021 by Harlan Schreiber

The big NBA news of the last few days has mostly related to whether/where Ben Simmons will be traded.  Another story that has been lurking in the background is how the NBA and the NBPA will deal with issue of COVID and vaccines and what the NBA would do with players who refuse to be vaccinated.  Let’s review what’s happened so far to see what the looming issues are: -About 10 days ago, Adrian Wojnarowski reported that 85% of players had been vaccinated. -The NBA would not mandate … [Read more...] about The NBA’s Vaccine Quandaries

Quick Thoughts

January 7, 2019 by Harlan Schreiber Leave a Comment

1. Thibs Canned: Today, the Wolves did the unexpected and fired Tim Thibodeau as coach and GM.  The Wolves have not been great so far (18-21, 11th in the West) but they haven’t been much worse than reasonable expectations, which pegged them as a lower seeded playoff team.  According to Adrian Wonjarowski of ESPN, the firing came because the team didn’t like how Thibodeau handled the Jimmy Butler affair and because Thibodeau had a bad relationship with CEO Ethan Casson, who had “concerns on the … [Read more...] about Quick Thoughts

NBA Draft 2014: Ranking the SFs

June 25, 2014 by Ed Weiland Leave a Comment

There have been a lot of good SFs come into the league since LeBron and Carmelo headed the 2003 draft class. This group has a chance to be as good as any SF class ever. It is a deep, diverse group that features a lot of potential stars. The SFs are what makes the 2014 draft so deep and potentially a historically good one. In addition to the depth of this group, what should make them a fun group to watch develop is there is no clear cut best prospect in the group. There is no LeBron James or … [Read more...] about NBA Draft 2014: Ranking the SFs

2014 NBA Draft: Top SFs Gordon, Parker and Wiggins

June 10, 2014 by Ed Weiland Leave a Comment

The 2014 draft has been all about the SFs. While I feel center Joel Embiid is the top prospect, the buzz around the most anticipated draft in years has been around SFs Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker. These two are the reason the 2014 draft was labelled “legendary” before either played a minute of college ball. Both have been called the best high school prospect since LeBron James while in high school. Both are SFs, with Wiggins possibly being able to play some SG and Parker a potential stretch … [Read more...] about 2014 NBA Draft: Top SFs Gordon, Parker and Wiggins

NBA Draft: Top 60 Post Tournament

April 15, 2014 by Ed Weiland Leave a Comment

This final top 60 includes only seniors and underclassmen listed as at least 50-50 to declare on Chad Ford’s list. So until next year I bid adieu to Denzel Livingston and Delon Wright. I look forward to seeing you both drafted in the 2015 lottery. The 2014 draft is shaping up as a perimeter heavy draft. After Embiid and possibly Clint Capela, there are no real good prospects at the 4 or 5. This could become one of the great drafts ever for small forwards though. It is a very deep draft at the … [Read more...] about NBA Draft: Top 60 Post Tournament
