Franchise Best Non-All-Stars

January 28, 2010 by Harlan Schreiber 4 Comments

Last time, we looked at some the best players players never to make an All-Star game.  At the request of friend of the site and overall nice guy Aitan Spring, we are going to take a look at each team's best player never to make an All-Star game. A few guidelines for our review: -We choose players based upon their accomplishment solely with one franchise. For example, Rod Strickland is possibly the best non-All-Star ever but he had several cameos for franchises where he wasn't great, which … [Read more...] about Franchise Best Non-All-Stars

All-Star Thoughts

January 21, 2010 by Harlan Schreiber 6 Comments

I typically do not watch or pay much attention to the NBA All-Star but I do get somewhat interested in who gets elected and chosen.  This year was particularly interesting.  According to ESPN.com, the starters are: East -G: Allen Iverson -G: Dwyane Wade -F: LeBron James -F: Kevin Garnett -C: Dwight Howard  West -G: Steve Nash -G: Kobe Bryant -F: Carmelo Anthony -F: Tim Duncan -C: Amare Stoudemire … [Read more...] about All-Star Thoughts

Agent Schmuck

January 7, 2010 by Harlan Schreiber 3 Comments

What more can we add to the Gilbert Arenas controversy?  Probably not a whole heck of a lot but let's piece together the facts and see what we can learn here, separated from all the hype and emotions of this story:  The Facts -On December 21, 2009, Arenas places several unloaded guns in front of the locker of teammate Javaris Crittenton.  The guns were apparently put out because Arenas and Crittenton had a dispute about who should pay have to pay the pot in a poker game.  Arenas and … [Read more...] about Agent Schmuck

The NBA and the Spirits

December 5, 2009 by Harlan Schreiber 4 Comments

I thought today we could review the best deal in NBA history and a deal that might never end.  We're not talking about any sort of player transaction but the famed settlement agreement between the St. Louis Spirits and the NBA.  Most basketball fans knows generally about this deal, namely that the owners of the Spirits were able to obtain a portion of NBA television revenue in perpetuity in exchange for Spirits' agreement to fold as a team.  This agreement has enabled the Spirits to collect … [Read more...] about The NBA and the Spirits

Surprise Squads So Far

November 28, 2009 by Harlan Schreiber Leave a Comment

It's hard to say that the 2009-10 season has been full of surprises so far.  We knew New Jersey would be bad and that the Cavs would be good, though we didn't expect the Nets to be quite so bad or the Cavs to be not as good but, like most of the NBA, these teams are playing somewhat in line with expectations.  We do have a few outliers, teams that are playing much better than most expected: Atlanta, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, and Dallas (we can also throw in Miami but they are only 9-6 with a … [Read more...] about Surprise Squads So Far

Welcome to Loserville, Population New Jersey

November 23, 2009 by Harlan Schreiber 1 Comment

Going into the season, the Nets were expected to be a poor team.  They traded away Vince Carter for Courtney Lee and made no real additions.  We expected a bad team but 0-13 is even worse than was reasonably be expected.  The Nets are probably not quite as bad as they have looked so far.  They have had a rash of injuries (Devin Harris, Courtney Lee, Yi Jianlian, Jarvis Hayes), though only Devin Harris was a really significant loss, the cumulative loss is significant.  The Nets have been above … [Read more...] about Welcome to Loserville, Population New Jersey
